French Fuel Prices Hit New Record Amid Global Energy Shortages Linked to Iran Conflict
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, fuel prices in France have hit a new record, with diesel reaching €2.41 ($2.76) per liter. This surge occurs as disruptions in global energy and fuel supply chains, stemming from the conflict involving Iran and heightened tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, persist, leading to global fuel shortages and significant price increases.
The average price for a liter of 98-octane unleaded gasoline has also surpassed €2.28 ($2.61). Furthermore, 95-octane gasoline, the most popular type in France, has exceeded €2.17 ($2.48) per liter, remaining above its 2022 record high for over ten days.
Official government reports from France indicate that 11% of gas stations nationwide are experiencing shortages of either gasoline or diesel, with this figure rising to 16% in certain regions.
In Germany as well, fuel prices have reached record-breaking levels, with energy price hikes intensifying pressure on households and economic sectors following developments and escalating conflicts in the Middle East.
