US Public Opinion Poll Reveals Widespread Doubt Over Victory in Iran Conflict
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a new survey released by CNN and SSRS has revealed that 64 percent of Americans believe their country has not emerged victorious in the war with Iran. Conversely, only 36 percent of respondents felt that the United States had won the conflict.
The poll further highlighted public sentiment regarding President Donald Trump’s approach to the ongoing hostilities. A substantial 78 percent of participants stated that Trump has not taken sufficient measures to end the war with Iran, while a mere 22 percent concurred that the President has undertaken the necessary actions. Additionally, a notable 75 percent of those surveyed expressed the view that Trump lacks a clear strategy for managing the war.
These findings coincide with recent legislative actions in the U.S. Congress. Last week, the House of Representatives passed a resolution aimed at curtailing President Trump’s war-making authorities concerning Iran. This marks the third instance of the House approving such a resolution to limit presidential actions in this conflict.
The financial burden of the protracted engagement is considerable. Estimates from the Congressional Budget Office suggest that the war is costing the United States approximately $2 billion per month. The ongoing conflict has also introduced significant economic challenges for the American populace. Restrictions on shipping in the Persian Gulf have led to a surge in gasoline prices across the nation.
Data from the American Automobile Association (AAA) shows the average price for regular gasoline has reached $4.47 per gallon, representing an increase of approximately $1.50 from pre-conflict levels. The poll, which surveyed 1206 respondents on September 16-17, has a margin of error of 3.5 percent.
Regarding political and economic perspectives, the survey indicates that while negative views among Democrats and independents have remained relatively stable throughout the conflict, Republican support has seen a decline of 13 percent. Currently, 60 percent of Republicans approve of Trump’s management of the war.
