US Treasury Secretary Claims Over 80-90% of Iran’s International Flights Halted

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has claimed that over 80 to 90 percent of international flights from Iran have been halted. These assertions were reported by Fox News, citing Bessent, and were also mentioned by Al Jazeera in its reporting.

Bessent further stated that Washington and Beijing have agreed to extend economic de-escalation between the two nations, allowing more time to pursue a wider agreement. He had previously announced on Wednesday, September 24, 2026, that Iranian airlines would face significant restrictions on their international operations starting September 23, 2026.

The Treasury Secretary had also issued a warning that countries providing services such as refueling, landing services, or ticket sales to Iranian aircraft could face restrictions on their access to the U.S. dollar financial and settlement system.
