UNICEF Warns One in Four Yemeni Children Face Acute Malnutrition Amidst Displacement

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, UNICEF has revealed that one in every four children in Yemen is currently facing acute malnutrition, with the situation worsening due to the continuous displacement of the population within the country. This report is based on data published by the Mehr News Agency, citing Russia’s Sputnik news agency.

Data from the International Organization for Migration indicates that over 130,000 individuals, including 71,000 children, have been forced to flee their homes in the past three weeks.

UNICEF also stated that out of nearly 2,900 children screened in accessible areas, more than a quarter exhibited signs of acute malnutrition, and over 200 were suffering from severe acute malnutrition. Projections suggest that by 2026, approximately 2.2 million children under the age of five in Yemen will face acute malnutrition, with more than half a million experiencing severe forms of the condition.

The ongoing conflict has also severely disrupted children’s access to healthcare and education. Since early September, at least 15 children have been killed, 14 injured, and three reported missing.
