Hezbollah Criticizes Lebanese Prime Minister’s UN Speech for Omitting Israeli Occupation

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a prominent member of the Lebanese parliament from Hezbollah‘s “Loyalty to Resistance” bloc has voiced strong disapproval of Prime Minister Najib Mikati’s recent speech at the United Nations General Assembly. Sayyed Ibrahim Al-Mousawi, a Member of Parliament, characterized the Prime Minister’s address as a deliberate oversight of Israel’s occupation and aggressions against Lebanon, as well as the resulting casualties and destruction.

Al-Mousawi expressed his disappointment, stating, “What a poor speech the Prime Minister delivered at the United Nations. In this address, not a single word was spoken about the Israeli regime’s aggression and its occupation of Lebanese territories.” He further elaborated that the speech failed to address the atrocities committed against civilians, particularly children, and the genocide of families who were completely annihilated. There was also no mention of the destruction of roads and lands, the leveling of villages, the bombing of hospitals, schools, and technical centers, or the obliteration of olive trees.

During a memorial ceremony, Al-Mousawi emphasized that a “government,” by its inherent definition and components, must possess fundamental characteristics, chief among them the protection of its people and their defense. He criticized the ruling administration’s policies concerning the resistance movement, asserting, “You are a ‘power,’ not a ‘government’; an arrogant power that conspires against your homeland, with or without Hezbollah.”

Concluding his remarks, Al-Mousawi highlighted the crucial role of the resistance, stating, “Those who ensured the survival and preservation of the state were these fighters and heroes; the very ones who, by divine grace, achieved victory in 2000, marking the celebration of resistance and liberation, without demanding anything or seeking additional power shares.”
