Israel’s ‘Nightmare Scenario’: Threefold Threat Looms With Iranian Involvement

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a new document has surfaced, sparking significant apprehension within the Israeli regime regarding the operational capabilities of its primary air bases in the Negev region. This document, authored by former security and military officials and dubbed “Nightmare Scenario” by the newspaper Israel Hayom, identifies three converging elements of concern.

Firstly, there is a substantial presence of illegal weaponry in the Negev. Secondly, a portion of the region’s residents could potentially engage in ethnic conflicts. Thirdly, Iranian intelligence activities are a significant factor. The concurrent activation of these three elements during a regional conflict could pose a grave danger to the Israeli regime, potentially blocking access to its vital air bases.

At the core of these concerns lies the Nevatim base, which houses an F-35 squadron. Other bases in the vicinity, including Hatzor, are also situated in this area. The threat does not necessitate a full-scale military assault; the mere obstruction of access routes or the deployment of drones could disrupt the functioning of these bases for several days.

A relevant example occurred in May 2021, during the conflict in Gaza. Protests within the Green Line led to the closure of main roads to the Negev, forcing pilots to reach Nevatim under heavy security escort.

These Israeli regime concerns have intensified in light of successful Iranian operations targeting the aforementioned base in 2024. Reports also indicate that surveillance teams operating near this base and other Israeli military installations have been apprehended. Iran, it is assessed, does not require extensive military preparations within the Negev itself. Instead, the region is under surveillance, sufficient weaponry is believed to be present, and a segment of its inhabitants are considered amenable to taking action against Israel.
