J.D. Vance, the deputy who can take Trump down with him

Some analysts say that choosing Vance as Donald Trump's running mate was a mistake and could cost him the popular vote.

JD Vance, who was chosen as the vice president of Donald Trump, the official candidate of the Republican Party, was supposed to be a copy of Trump himself. His election as deputy was strongly supported by the Republican Party in the first weeks. However, some time after this election and passing the positive emotional reactions, there have been discussions in the party circles that Vance can become a burden on Trump’s shoulders and have a fatal effect on the election campaigns.

According to the Guardian, new polls have not reacted well to Vance’s recent statements and show that his popularity has drastically decreased in this short period of time and reached the lowest level. Analysts say that Vance may drag Trump down with his recent statements that have received negative reactions on social networks and cause him to regret.

In recent days, a video of JD Vance has become very popular on social networks. The video, which dates back to 2021, shows Vance, a senator from the state of Ohio, referring to Kamala Harris, Biden’s running mate, in a conversation with a Fox News anchor, calling her, along with other Democrats, “a bunch of women with no kids and a cat.” He reads that they have a “pathetic life”. These statements have received extremely negative reactions, especially from women.

Vance was chosen as Trump’s running mate because he faithfully reflected his ideologies. But it can also be understood that Trump thought he was going to continue the election campaign against Joe Biden, the oldest American president, and therefore, by choosing a very young vice president, he tried to attract a young audience. Now with the resignation of Joe Biden and the possible candidacy of Kamala Harris, the electoral landscape looks very different. Vance, with his extreme stance against women and his derisive remarks about women who don’t have children, could be the wrong partner for Trump. Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute, says: “The most important condition of a running mate is that he does not harm the main candidate. Because the benefit that comes from the deputy to the candidate is very small, but his damages can potentially be high.

CNN pollster Harry Enten also pointed out that Vance’s approval rating was negative six within a week, saying: “JD Vance made history as the most unpopular vice presidential candidate since 1980.” ». In fact, rather than helping Trump’s popularity, Vance seems to be highlighting Trump’s negative traits and mindset.
