Fidan: Maintaining Ceasefire Between Iran and Israel Remains Our Strategic Priority
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan emphasized the need for regional stability during a joint press conference with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy in Ankara,stating: “Maintaining the Iran-Israel ceasefire,preventing its violation,and achieving lasting peace constitute key strategic objectives for Ankara under current circumstances.” webangah news Agency reports.
Highlighting extensive bilateral cooperation in economic,defense,and technological sectors,Fidan noted: “Our foreign trade volume is now approaching the $30 billion target-a goal we’ve pursued with determination in recent years.”
Fidan emphasized that the two countries have made notable efforts in recent years to strengthen relations, noting that Turkey offers vast opportunities in trade and investment, making a free trade agreement essential for further advancement.
Turkey’s Foreign Minister stated that Ankara and London share nearly identical perspectives on key international issues, including Gaza, Syria, Iran, Iraq, and the Russia-Ukraine war. He stressed that both nations support a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.
Regarding the ceasefire proposal, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanani addressed Iran’s demands for a lasting truce during a press briefing today. He also commented on the U.S. proposal to lift sanctions: “Earlier,we witnessed how timely initiatives were proposed while other sanctions remained in place. such proposals are unreliable and must be reassessed.”
Iran strongly condemned the recent diplomatic move by the U.S. administration, labeling it as an act of aggression. Tehran warned against overlooking the consequences of such escalatory measures.
In a sharp diplomatic response, Iran denounced what it called an “unprovoked violation” by the united States. Officials emphasized that Washington initiated this confrontation without justification, notably criticizing recent sanctions as destabilizing actions.
Iranian authorities asserted their readiness to counter any threats, stating: “our nation will decisively respond to ensure such transgressions don’t serve the aggressor’s interests.”
