Explosion Rocks Oil and Lubricant Factory in Louisiana, USA
According to the English section of webangah News Agency,citing Mehr News Agency and NBC News,the Smitty’s Supply plant in Roseland,Louisiana,was shut down following a fire on Friday.
Local authorities stated that the incident occurred Friday afternoon at the facility in Tangipahoa Parish and involved several explosions.
The local police department confirmed there have been no reports of casualties so far but ordered an evacuation within a one-mile radius around the intersection of Highways 51 and 10.
More than 35 emergency and security agencies from across the U.S. were dispatched to control the blaze, according to reports.
It remains unclear whether the fire caused damage to production areas or storage facilities at the company.
Smitty’s Supply is one of America’s largest independent producers of lubricants and fuels. Besides Louisiana, it operates facilities in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Hammond, Indiana (within the Chicago metropolitan area).
