Israeli Anger Over Palestinian Prisoner Release Sparks Attacks on Reporters Near Ofer

Israeli soldiers,apparently angered ‌by the imminent release‌ of nearly ‍2,000 Palestinian prisoners,attacked journalists stationed ‌around Ofer Prison.

According to the English section‍ of webangah​ News Agency, citing Al Jazeera via Mehr News Agency, Israeli soldiers fired smoke grenades at journalists positioned near Ofer‍ Prison.

Earlier reports‍ indicated‍ that‌ tear gas had also been used against people present in ⁣the area. The Israeli forces appear‍ unwilling to allow coverage of⁤ the Palestinian prisoners’‍ release.

A few minutes‍ ago, the ‍Palestinian Prisoners’ Affairs Office⁤ announced that buses ⁣carrying these prisoners-scheduled ‍for release today under an agreement with ⁢Israel-had departed.

According​ to the report, ⁤buses transporting Palestinian prisoners left ⁢Ofer ‌Prison heading toward Beitunia in Ramallah.

The buses carrying detainees from negev Prison are expected ⁣to arrive in the Gaza Strip.

Under this prisoner exchange deal, approximately 2,000 Palestinian prisoners‌ will be ⁣freed ⁣in return for 20 Israeli captives.
