End of PKK Operations in Turkey; Forces Relocate to Northern Iraq

According to the English section of webangah News Agency,citing Turkish media via Mehr News Agency,the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) has declared an end to its operations inside Turkey.
The PKK also reported that its members are withdrawing from Turkey and moving to northern Iraq.
The group stated that some of its elements have been transferred from border areas in Turkey to the kurdistan Region of Iraq, with others expected to relocate if Turkey remains committed to the peace process.
On February 27, 2025, Abdullah Öcalan, leader of the PKK, called on party members to lay down their arms, hold a congress, and dissolve the association. Following this call, the PKK held its twelfth congress from May 5 to 7 and resolved to disband itself.
In this context, on July 11 at a ceremony in Jisna Cave near Dukan district in Sulaymaniyah province, a group of PKK members burned their weapons as a goodwill gesture toward supporting peace efforts in Turkey.
