UNIFIL: Israeli Attacks on UN Forces Raise Concerns

The spokesperson for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) stated that their operations face significant risks but emphasized that strict security measures are in place to protect personnel.
He added, “We witnessed mortar shells landing within five meters of UNIFIL troops while they were carrying out routine patrols. The Israeli army must be reminded to uphold its commitment to safeguarding the lives of UNIFIL forces.”
The UNIFIL spokesperson described these attacks by the Israeli regime against peacekeepers as increasingly worrisome.
Previously, UNIFIL reported that an Israeli Merkava tank fired toward their positions near a site established by Tel Aviv inside Lebanese territory.
The statement explained that this incident forced peacekeepers to take cover in safe positions. After the tank withdrew, the forces were able to leave the area unharmed.
