Jordan Makes Military Service Compulsory to Counter Israeli Threats

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing mehr News Agency and Sputnik, jordan’s parliament has passed a draft bill submitted by the government to reinstate mandatory military service for Jordanian citizens.
The law was approved during yesterday’s parliamentary session attended by Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh and members of his cabinet. Implementation measures are scheduled to begin next February.
amin Mashaqbeh, former Jordanian minister and political analyst, emphasized that compulsory military service is a necessary step amid existing security threats, especially due to expansionist ambitions by the Zionist regime.
Mashaqbeh added that this policy had been suspended since 1991 but growing threats from the Zionist regime toward the region-especially increased settlement activities-prompted reconsideration of its reinstatement.
