Why Are Al-Alaraji and Al-Shatri Strong Contenders for Iraq’s Prime Minister Post?

A member of the Kurdistan Democratic ⁢Party of Iraq has stated that Qasim al-Araji and Hamid al-Shatri are currently the frontrunners‌ for the position of⁤ Iraqi prime‌ minister.

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, ‍citing Rudaw via Mehr news Agency, shwan mohammed Taha, a Kurdistan⁣ Democratic Party member and former Iraqi ‌parliamentarian, emphasized that the Shiite Coordination Framework has begun‍ negotiations on forming the ⁢next government by dispatching two delegations-one inside ‍Iraq and another⁤ abroad.

He believes ‌that mohammed Shia al-Sudani has no chance of being reappointed ⁤prime minister, as the ‍Coordination Framework neither supports nor trusts him.

Taha added that former Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi also stands little chance for⁣ reappointment. Simultaneously occurring, Haider al-Abadi’s prospects remain uncertain due to a veto from the State of ‌Law coalition.

According to Shwan Mohammed Taha,⁤ Qasim al-Araji and Hamid al-Shatri currently have the strongest chances because Iran, the United states, and‍ Gulf Cooperation Council ⁤countries do not oppose their premierships. Simultaneously occurring, they⁢ do not control a powerful parliamentary bloc.

The Kurdistan Democratic Party official stressed that their conditions for participating in the future government relate to ‍its program rather than specific posts or ministries.

He also underscored that⁢ the presidency of Iraq must remain in Kurdish hands.
