Herzog Sets Conditions for Netanyahu’s Pardon

Israeli media reveal the condition ‌set ⁤by ‌the‍ regime’s president for granting Netanyahu a pardon.

According to the‍ English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News agency and Al-Alam, Israeli⁢ President Isaac Herzog may pardon Prime Minister Benjamin netanyahu ⁢if ⁢he agrees to withdraw from political life.

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported, ‍quoting sources close to Netanyahu, that ‌it is unlikely he will give up political⁢ activity in exchange for a pardon.

Today,‍ Sunday,‍ prime⁣ Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent a⁣ letter to President Isaac Herzog requesting a⁤ pardon for the charges against him in his ongoing trial.

In his pardon request, Netanyahu neither admitted ‌guilt nor apologized. Tho, submitting this formal request can be seen as an implicit acknowledgment of the accusations raised against him in court.

Herzog’s office described the request as ‍”exceptional,” noting that clemency petitions ‍are usually ‍submitted after a final court ⁤verdict and admission ⁣of ⁤guilt or wrongdoing. Netanyahu faces multiple cases ⁣alongside ⁣members of his family on charges⁣ including bribery, abuse of power, and cronyism.

Last‍ week, U.S. President Donald Trump wrote on social media that it was time for ⁤Benjamin ⁣Netanyahu to receive a pardon. Trump characterized the legal cases against Netanyahu as unfair and ⁢politically⁤ motivated.
