Trump Urges Ukraine to Hold Elections, Criticizes European Leaders
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, President Donald Trump, in an exclusive interview with Politico, criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders for their approach to Washington’s proposed plan to end the war in Ukraine. He also asserted that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s days are numbered.
Trump stated, “I think the time has come to hold elections in Ukraine. Maybe Zelensky will win, but they haven’t held elections in a long time. They talk about democracy, but the situation has reached a point where it is no longer democratic.”
He added, “Zelensky hasn’t read my peace plan. It would be very good if he read it.” Trump claimed he presented a new draft peace plan that was well-received by some Ukrainian officials, but Zelensky himself has not yet seen it.
The U.S. President also mocked European leaders, saying, “I think European leaders are weak.” He emphasized, “I attach great importance to the role of European leaders in trying to end the war. They talk, but they don’t achieve any results, and the war goes on forever. Putin also likes to see a weak Europe, and that’s what he sees. This has nothing to do with me. I want to see a strong Europe.”
Trump mentioned his support for far-right politicians in European elections, saying, “Yes, I have defended people in Europe that Europeans don’t like. I have supported Viktor Orban, the Prime Minister of Hungary and anti-European Union leader.”
Regarding Venezuela, Trump claimed that Nicolas Maduro’s final days are near, alluding to U.S. military deployments near Venezuelan coasts.
