US Vows Response After American Troops Killed in Syria’s Palmyra

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Special Envoy to Syria Tom Barack asserted that the attack on American soldiers in the Palmyra region of Syria will not go unanswered. Barack, addressing the situation, stated the incident highlights the continuous threat posed by ISIS, not only to Syria but globally.
The American official outlined the U.S. strategy, emphasizing empowerment of Syrian partners with limited operational support focused on pursuing ISIS networks. Barack claimed this approach keeps the conflict localized, preventing a larger-scale American intervention in the Middle East.
Barack stated that the limited military deployment, in cooperation with local forces in Syria, aids in safeguarding against major threats, adding that preventing ISIS’s resurgence in Syria disrupts a potential terrorism pipeline stretching from Europe to the United States.
The attack resulting in the deaths of two U.S. soldiers and one translator occurred during a joint patrol with the Joulani regime in the city of Palmyra in central Syria.
