Venezuela Calls for UN Security Council Meeting to Address Alleged US Aggression

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Venezuela has formally requested a meeting of the UN Security Council to address alleged “aggression” by the United States.
A UN diplomat indicated that the Security Council session is likely to be convened next Tuesday, following Venezuela’s request. Diplomatic sources informed Al Jazeera that the Security Council meeting regarding Venezuela is anticipated to take place next week, potentially sooner depending on developments.
Samuel Moncada, Venezuela’s representative to the United Nations, stated that Caracas is seeking an emergency Security Council session to examine the continuous US aggressions against the country. Moncada emphasized that statements made by the President of the United States are unprecedented and violate Venezuela’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence.
He added that these statements effectively serve as a warning about the potential use of military force if Venezuela does not submit to American dictates. The Venezuelan representative denounced these actions as a colonial scheme and extortion against a sovereign nation, characterizing them as a broad act of aggression.
Moncada asserted that the US is violating Article 2, Paragraph 4 of the UN Charter through the threat or use of force. He stated that Venezuela is currently facing a violation in the form of a unilateral naval blockade, which is inconsistent with international law.
Furthermore, he accused Washington of attempting to impose an air blockade through threats and coercion, an action that endangers the security of international civil aviation.
