Putin’s Envoy Reports Positive Progress in Russia-U.S. Ukraine Peace Talks

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s special envoy, Kirill Dmitriev, stated that negotiations between Russia and the U.S. on resolving the Ukraine crisis are progressing well, despite attempts to disrupt them.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Kirill Dmitriev, the special envoy of Russian President Vladimir Putin, confirmed that Russia-U.S. negotiations aimed at resolving the Ukraine crisis are advancing positively. Dmitriev, who arrived in Miami on Saturday, immediately engaged in talks with U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkauf and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of the U.S. President. The discussions, held at a golf club, were described by Dmitriev as “constructive.”

Dmitriev dismissed claims that pro-war factions had succeeded in derailing the dialogue, asserting, “They failed; everything is going well.” Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov clarified that Dmitriev’s mission was to gather information on Washington’s communications with Ukraine and European nations and report back to Putin. Peskov emphasized that no direct messages from Putin were conveyed to the U.S. side during the talks.

Peskov also noted that Putin had hosted Witkauf and Kushner in early December at the Kremlin, where both sides discussed a proposed peace initiative for nearly five hours without reaching an agreement. Putin had previously criticized the U.S. for dividing the initial 27-point peace plan into four separate packages, some of which Moscow opposed.

Witkauf earlier described negotiations between Ukrainian delegates and their American and European counterparts in Florida as productive. Recent months have seen intensified diplomatic efforts by the U.S. and its European allies to manage the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which has grown increasingly protracted. While Washington stresses the need for lasting peace, disagreements over timelines, security guarantees, and Ukraine’s political future remain key obstacles.
