Saudi Arabia Welcomes Yemen Prisoner Exchange Agreement

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement expressing support for the recently reached prisoner exchange deal in Yemen, describing it as a crucial humanitarian step to reduce human suffering. The statement also reaffirmed Riyadh’s backing for ongoing efforts to achieve peace, security, and stability in Yemen.
The agreement involves the exchange of approximately 3,000 prisoners between the Saudi-backed Aden-based Yemeni government and the Ansar Allah-aligned Sanaa government. Abdulqadir Al-Murtada, head of the National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs affiliated with Ansar Allah, confirmed the deal, stating that 1,700 detainees from their side would be swapped for 1,200 prisoners from the opposing faction, including seven Saudis and 23 Sudanese.
Al-Murtada also extended gratitude to Omani officials for hosting the negotiations and facilitating their successful conclusion.
