Registration Deadline for Iraqi Presidential Candidates Concludes

The deadline for candidates to register for the Iraqi presidency has ended, with over 44 individuals submitting their nominations, including current President Abdul Latif Rashid as an independent.
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the registration period for candidates vying for the Iraqi presidency concluded at 3 PM Baghdad time on Monday. Safwan Gharghari, the head of the Iraqi Council of Representatives’ secretariat, confirmed the end of the registration window.
Gharghari stated that more than 44 candidates have registered for the presidential post, with their names to be announced shortly. Among the notable nominees are Fuad Hussein, representing the Kurdistan Democratic Party, and Nizar Amidi, backed by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.
Additionally, Iraqi sources previously reported that incumbent President Abdul Latif Rashid has registered as an independent candidate for the presidency.
