Burkina Faso Thwarts Coup Attempt Against President Ibrahim Traore

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Burkina Faso‘s government has neutralized a coup attempt targeting President Ibrahim Traore. In an official statement, authorities implicated Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, the former transitional president, as the organizer of the plot.
Security Minister Mahamadou Sana told national broadcaster RTB that the conspiracy, planned for late Saturday, was thwarted due to the professionalism of intelligence services. The minister revealed the scheme involved targeted assassinations of military and civilian officials, beginning with attempts to kill President Traore through close-range attacks or planted explosives at his residence.
Following these actions, the plotters allegedly intended to disable a drone base and facilitate military intervention by foreign forces, according to the minister’s statements.
