Former Israeli Army Chief: Iran Holds Upper Hand; Trump Eager for Deal

Former Israeli military chief Moshe Ya’alon has stated that Iran currently holds the upper hand, emerging from recent conflicts with strength and resilience against larger armies. He also commented on U.S. President Donald Trump’s eagerness for a deal with Iran, suggesting Trump aims to portray his agreement as superior to previous ones.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, in statements published by the Mehr News Agency and cited by Yedioth Ahronoth, former Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, Moshe Ya’alon, acknowledged that Iran possesses the dominant position in the current circumstances. He regretfully noted that Iran has not only emerged from this conflict with power but has also endured against major armies.

Ya’alon further added that U.S. President Donald Trump is keen on reaching an agreement with Iran. He believes Trump wishes to present his deal as superior to the one made during the Obama administration, though Ya’alon expressed skepticism about this claim.

Earlier, Yair Lapid, the opposition leader in Israel, described a potential agreement between Iran and the United States as a complete and significant failure for the Israeli Prime Minister, emphasizing that such an accord would not achieve any of Israel’s objectives.
