White House Official Details Iran-U.S. Understanding, Hails ‘Decisive Role’ of Upcoming Swiss Talks
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a White House official has disclosed that a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States, slated for signing in Switzerland, consists of 14 articles. The official indicated that the forthcoming meeting in Switzerland will be pivotal in converting this understanding into a comprehensive agreement.
Regarding the Iran-U.S. understanding, the official stated that the first article emphasizes the immediate cessation of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon. Both the United States, Iran, and their allies are committed to refraining from any future military actions against one another.
The White House official, who remained unnamed, further elaborated that the memorandum also underscores mutual respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of both nations and a commitment to non-interference in internal affairs.
Under the terms of this agreement, Tehran and Washington have pledged to negotiate a final deal within 60 days, with the possibility of extension through mutual consent.
The White House official added that Washington has also committed to initiating the process of lifting the naval blockade against Iran, aiming for its complete termination within 30 days.
According to the American official, Iran is also set to consult with Persian Gulf littoral states and engage in discussions with Oman regarding the management of maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
The American official further stated that, based on this understanding, the United States has committed to developing a plan for Iran’s reconstruction in cooperation with its regional partners.
The value of this reconstruction plan has been announced as $300 billion, with its implementation mechanism to be detailed in the final agreement.
The American official also indicated that Washington is committed to lifting sanctions against Iran based on a timetable and within the framework of the final agreement.
In conclusion, the official highlighted that Iran has reiterated its stance of not pursuing the acquisition or development of nuclear weapons.
