Al-Qaeda Affiliate Claims Responsibility for Attacks on Malian Army Positions

The Jama’at Nasr al-Islam wal Muslimin, an Al-Qaeda-affiliated group in West Africa, has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks targeting military sites across Mali, as confirmed through the group’s official media channels.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Jama’at Nasr al-Islam wal Muslimin, an Al-Qaeda-affiliated group operating in West Africa, has claimed responsibility for a series of assaults on military positions within Mali. This assertion was disseminated via the group’s official media outlets.

Prior to this claim, the Malian government had reported rebel attacks in the northern regions of the country, which had specifically targeted major urban centers. The Malian army confirmed on Saturday that several towns in the north, including the key cities of Gao and Sévaré, had been subjected to rebel assaults.

Mali has previously contended with armed insurgencies involving elements linked to Al-Qaeda and ISIS, as well as separatist unrest in its northern territories.
