Trump Notifies Congress of Resumed Hostilities With Iran, Reports Indicate

U.S. President Donald Trump has officially informed Congress about the resumption of hostilities with Iran, a move accompanied by notification of defensive operations within Iranian territory and a declared intention to commence port blockades, according to American media reports.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, American media outlets have reported that U.S. President Donald Trump has officially notified Congress of the recommencement of conflict with Iran. This notification was conveyed through a letter obtained by The New York Times, as cited by Al Jazeera.

The newspaper further reported that the U.S. President informed Congress that American forces conducted operations on July 7th, described as “defensive strikes” within Iran. In related statements, Trump reiterated claims of America possessing the world’s most powerful military, asserting its dominance over Iran. He also contended that while Iran has imposed its will on others for the past 47 years, it is incapable of doing so against the United States, alleging that Washington dictates its will upon Iran, not the reverse.

These assertions from President Trump come amid repeated affirmations from Iranian officials that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s defensive and regional policies are pursued independently of external pressures. Tehran has consistently rejected any claims of U.S. attempts to impose its will.

Meanwhile, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) for the Middle East has claimed that, by order of President Trump, a blockade of Iranian ports will commence. CENTCOM stated that American forces will encircle Iranian ports and coastal areas. The military command also asserted its continued support for maritime traffic in regional waters, provided that vessels do not engage in what it termed “violation of Iran’s blockade.”
