US Companies Sue Trump Administration Over New Import Tariffs

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a group of American companies has filed a lawsuit with the U.S. Court of International Trade, demanding the cancellation of new tariffs imposed on imports from 60 of the United States’ trading partners. The lawsuit, citing Mehr News Agency which quoted TASS, represents the plaintiffs’ claim that the measures implemented under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 are arbitrary, unjustified, and contrary to established laws.

The plaintiffs, acting on behalf of themselves and a group of American citizens, implored the court to revoke these actions. The legal challenge is being spearheaded by the non-profit legal organization, the Center for Freedom and Justice, which previously succeeded in challenging tariffs imposed by the Trump administration under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.

Named as defendants in this new case are Donald Trump, U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, and Rodney Scott, the head of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. These tariffs, ranging from 10% to 12.5%, have been applied to 60 U.S. trading partners, including Russia.
