Saudi Blockade Fuels 50% Surge in Cancer Cases in Yemen, Officials Report

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Abdullah Thawabeh, director of Yemen‘s National Center for Cancer Control, stated that the blockade enforced by Saudi Arabia has led to a 50% surge in cancer patients, severely hindering the provision of services. He emphasized that this blockade has resulted in a scarcity of crucial medications, consequently increasing the death toll.

Abdulrahman Al-Hadi, head of Pediatric Hematology Oncology in Yemen, further highlighted that children with leukemia are not receiving adequate medical care due to the current blockade. Since the commencement of aggression against Yemen, 2,300 cases of childhood leukemia have been recorded, doubling the incidence of this disease among Yemeni children.

Anis Al-Asbahi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, also confirmed that 120,000 cancer patients are suffering immensely as a result of the Saudi Arabian blockade against Yemen for the past 12 years.
