US, Iran Exchange Messages Amid Pakistan-Qatar Mediated Peace Efforts

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Pakistani government sources informed Anadolu Agency on Sunday that mediators Pakistan and Qatar have escalated message exchanges between the United States and Iran. This intensified communication follows the notification of responses from both parties regarding a joint formula designed to conclude their months-long conflict.

These developments occurred after U.S. President Donald Trump issued an order to halt aggressive strikes, following two weeks of continuous overnight attacks. The sources added that earlier this week, Islamabad and Doha proposed a joint de-escalation formula, urging the U.S. and Iran to revert to their pre-July 9 positions as a preliminary step towards resuming stalled negotiations for a permanent end to the hostilities.

While the sources did not elaborate on the specifics of the responses, they indicated that both sides have expressed their willingness for dialogue and diplomacy to bring an end to the latest hostilities and return to the negotiating table. The sources stated that the cessation of attacks by both parties has boosted hopes for the resumption of the suspended talks.

The New York Times reported on Saturday that Trump has temporarily halted plans for escalating military operations against Iran, citing concerns over the depletion of U.S. air defense missile stocks. This decision was made subsequent to a meeting held on Friday with senior advisors and cabinet officials.

The sources indicated that Washington and Tehran would promptly resume negotiations if an agreement is reached, with the implementation of a ceasefire in southern Lebanon also being a top priority on the agenda.
