Analyst Predicts Third West Bank Intifada Fueled by Regional Resistance and Iran’s Stance

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Abdel Bari Atwan, a renowned regional strategic analyst, has asserted in a new article published on the Rai al-Youm online platform that Palestinian resistance in the West Bank has never ceased. His commentary follows recent events in the West Bank and the Israeli regime’s actions in the village of Tell, near Nablus.
Atwan indicated that the events of Friday in the village of ‘Tell’ in Nablus could serve as a precursor to a third armed intifada in the West Bank. He emphasized the critical timing of these developments, noting that this heroic stand occurred just days after an incursion by 3,000 Israeli settlers into Al-Aqsa Mosque, led by the extremist Israeli Internal Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.
Furthermore, this incursion coincided with the declaration of a state of emergency across occupied territories and the activation of shelters in Tel Aviv in preparation for a potential missile attack from Iran, in response to military threats issued by U.S. President Donald Trump. The strategic analyst likened the West Bank to a large, ponderous elephant, suggesting that while its movements may be slow, they are devastating when they occur, overwhelming any opposition, especially from the Israeli army. He cited the second armed intifada, which began in 2000 and lasted for several years, as clear evidence of this potential.
Atwan stated that weapons are now readily available, and determined individuals are abundant. He noted that some of these weapons are smuggled from Jordan, while others are produced domestically. The analyst believes that failures by Israel and the United States in their confrontation with Iran, and their unsuccessful attempts to alter Iran’s governance or cripple its nuclear infrastructure and capabilities, could be the catalysts for igniting an armed intifada.
Connecting the internal dynamics of the West Bank to broader regional developments and the axis of resistance, Atwan highlighted the resurgence of Hezbollah, which he says is rebuilding its forces, missiles, and drones. He also pointed to the Ansar Allah movement in Yemen, which has reportedly blockaded the Bab al-Mandab strait and is preparing missiles for attacks on Tel Aviv and Eilat. Additionally, Iraqi resistance groups such as Saraya Awliya Al-Dam, Kata’ib Hezbollah, and the Nujaaba Forces are reportedly preparing to cross the borders of Jordan and potentially Syria to penetrate deep into occupied territories.
Atwan concluded that the third intifada, being shaped by the regional resistance climate and unprecedented support, could present a shocking surprise for the occupying regime and its allies. He envisions this uprising as being bolstered by popular support, advanced and precise missiles, and drones that will dominate the skies over occupied Palestine. He stressed that these observations are based on the ongoing resistance in Iran, which he stated has entered its fifth month with significant victories.
