Iraqi Prime Minister Al-Zaydi Visits Turkey, Pays Respects to Ataturk

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaydi of Iraq has arrived in Ankara for an official visit and was received by Turkish dignitaries. Data published by Mehr News Agency cited the Iraqi Prime Minister’s office in reporting Al-Zaydi’s arrival in the Turkish capital on Tuesday, August 27, 2026.

Upon his arrival in Ankara, the Iraqi Prime Minister visited the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, and laid a wreath. Sources in Iraq indicated that Al-Zaydi is leading a high-level governmental delegation to Ankara for discussions with President Erdoğan and other senior Turkish officials.

Earlier, the Iraqi Prime Minister’s office issued a statement detailing that the official visit aims to bolster bilateral cooperation, particularly in the economic, commercial, investment, water, energy, security, and oil sectors. The two sides are also expected to consult on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
