Red Sea Threats Divert Saudi Oil Tanker Routes, Bloomberg Reports

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency,
Bloomberg has reported that a significant number of oil tankers have altered their routes from Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea export terminal in Yanbu, redirecting towards the Egyptian Mediterranean port of Sidi Kerir. This shift comes in response to security concerns and a reduction in tanker traffic in the Red Sea.
At least eight supertankers have changed their destinations to Sidi Kerir, and Saudi Aramco has reportedly increased its oil exports through this port following recent attacks. This rerouting highlights the growing impact of regional tensions on global energy supply chains.
The report further indicates that some Western and Asian shipping companies are choosing longer and more costly routes to avoid the risks associated with the Red Sea. However, a number of Chinese tankers continue to transit through the Bab al-Mandab strait.
The Yanbu terminal had previously gained strategic importance due to its ability to facilitate the transfer of Saudi oil to the Red Sea without transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The recent escalation of regional tensions has seemingly diminished this advantage for vessels opting for greater security.
