US Military Seizes Personnel Phones Amid Iran Threat Concerns

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) chief General Michael E. Kurilla has issued a warning that mobile phone videos shared online could assist Iran in identifying and targeting American bases. Sources have indicated that some personnel will soon be ordered to surrender their devices.

In Jordan, a location that has frequently been the target of Iranian actions against U.S. facilities, some military personnel have been informed that their phones will be confiscated in the coming days, according to two individuals familiar with the matter who spoke to Reuters.

This development appears to be linked to a video circulated online this month, purportedly captured by a U.S. service member using Meta smart glasses equipped with a camera. The footage showed soldiers running to a shelter during an Iranian attack on the Al-Safa Air Base in Jordan on July 17.

General Kurilla highlighted the potential intelligence breach, stating, “A video taken from the Meta glasses of a service member was posted on Instagram, showing where and how this individual evacuated to a shelter during Iran’s missile and drone attack.” He further explained that the detailed lists, descriptions, and analyses of targets, particularly those published by news outlets, essentially provide Iran with a free battle damage assessment.
