Iraq Implements Special Measures for Arbaeen Pilgrim Departures

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iraqi officials have announced the successful execution of their plan for the return of pilgrims, offering special facilities such as allowing vehicles to reach the nearest points to Karbala, attributing this ease of transit to the prevailing security stability. This comes as the peak period for the return of pilgrims approaches.

Ali Al-Lami, Deputy Head of the Prime Minister’s Office and head of the committee for the Million-Person Arbaeen Pilgrimage services, stated during a field visit to several areas that governmental measures and preparations for the return of Arbaeen pilgrims are proceeding with high fluidity and order.

He projected that the current and following days would witness the highest volume of pilgrim traffic on the Baghdad route, noting that field indicators suggest a very smooth transportation process, alleviating the need for pilgrims to walk long distances.

Al-Lami further explained that due to the favorable security stability in Karbala Governorate, private vehicles are permitted to travel to the closest possible points to the shrine and the city center.

The head of the committee for the Million-Person Pilgrimage services emphasized that the Iraqi government, with direct support from the Prime Minister, has leased 2,400 modern, air-conditioned buses for the pilgrim return transportation fleet this year.

As part of this plan, 400 buses are allocated to the Baghdad route, 700 to the Babil route, and 800 to the Najaf route, with the remaining fleet distributed among other routes based on need, ensuring the highest quality and efficiency of services.
