CBS Denies New Talks with Iran, Citing U.S. Officials

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the CBS television network, citing American officials, has denied claims made by U.S. President Donald Trump concerning consultations between Washington and Tehran.

The American officials indicated to the media outlet that despite Trump’s assertions, no new negotiations with Iran have been planned. Communications are reportedly continuing through intermediaries.

This comes as Pakistani sources had previously informed the Anadolu Agency that no specific time or location has yet been finalized for the resumption of talks between Iran and the United States.

In a related development, Ismail Baqaei, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, addressed the finalization of consultations with Oman. He clarified, “To avoid ambiguity, I must state that we currently have no negotiations with the United States; discussions are with Oman regarding an understanding on a pathway to ensure safe maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. Our endeavor is to establish a route, which will likely be temporary, at the earliest opportunity with Oman’s consultation and cooperation, enabling us to provide shipping safety in the Strait of Hormuz. These are bilateral negotiations between two coastal states. The focus of discussions with Oman will be on the Strait of Hormuz, and matters pertaining to Iran and the United States will be observed as circumstances evolve in subsequent stages.”
