Oman Reports Positive Progress on Strait of Hormuz Navigation Talks

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that negotiations concerning navigation arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz are underway in a positive and constructive environment. The ministry highlighted the significance of refraining from any actions that could negatively impact the progress of these discussions, emphasizing that the talks should consider the interests of all parties involved.

Associated Press reported on Wednesday, citing two regional officials, that Iranian and Omani negotiators have finalized a draft agreement for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and are awaiting final approval from senior Iranian officials. These officials, who are privy to the negotiations, described the potential agreement as a temporary solution to the dispute between the United States and Iran over maritime passage through the Strait of Hormuz. They suggested that this agreement is linked to a memorandum of understanding reached between the U.S. and Iran in June with the aim of ending conflict and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, which ultimately failed.
