Lebanese President Condemns Israeli Attacks on Southern Lebanon
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Joseph Aoun, President of Lebanon, has issued a strong condemnation of the Israeli regime’s ongoing assaults on southern Lebanon. The president’s remarks, as reported by Al-Nahar, highlight a pattern of violations against the framework agreement and international laws designed to protect civilians.
President Aoun specifically referenced the recent attacks in Nabatieh and its environs, which he stated have resulted in the tragic deaths of an entire family from the town of Ansar. He asserted that these actions by the occupying forces send a clear message concerning the ongoing negotiations and the United States’ efforts to implement the so-called framework agreement.
Previously, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam had stated that the responsibility for addressing any military structure within Lebanon rests solely with the Lebanese army and its legal institutions. He emphasized that Israel’s actions jeopardize the country’s sovereignty and the safety of its citizens.
Prime Minister Salam described the escalating Israeli attacks, which commenced early today in Nabatieh, Ansar, Deir ez-Zahrani, and surrounding villages, as exceptionally dangerous. These assaults, characterized by intense shelling and the instillation of terror among residents in their homes, are undermining efforts to establish stability in the south.
He further stressed that the seven martyrs from the Israeli airstrike in Ansar were not military targets, and the women and children killed in this incident should not be considered as such. Prime Minister Salam reiterated that the presence of any military structure on Lebanese soil exclusively falls under the purview of the Lebanese government through its army and legal bodies. He concluded by stating that Israel has no right to unilaterally enter Lebanese territory or endanger civilian lives, demanding an end to this escalation as the security and right to life for the Lebanese people are non-negotiable.
