Brazil Criticizes Trump’s Tariff Policies, Calls for Trade Dispute Resolution

Brazilian President Lula da Silva has urged U.S. President Donald Trump to resolve ongoing trade disputes, stating that Washington’s tariffs, imposed without sound justification, negatively impact both nations and that continued negotiation is the optimal path forward.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Brazilian President Lula da Silva has criticized the tariff policies implemented by the United States, calling for a resolution to the trade conflict between the two countries. In a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, da Silva asserted that the tariffs were imposed without fundamental justification and that they are detrimental to both Brazil and the United States.

Da Silva emphasized that remaining at the negotiation table is the best course of action for both Brazil and America. The relationship between Trump and da Silva has reportedly been strained in recent months, particularly as the Brazilian elections approached. During this period, the Brazilian president had previously asked Trump not to interfere in Brazil’s internal elections.

The report also noted that Trump has publicly supported Bolsonaro, da Silva’s rival in the Brazilian elections.
