Iran Blacklists 45 Oil Tankers Over Strait of Hormuz Violations, Warns of Retaliation
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iran has placed 45 oil tankers on a blacklist for violating passage regulations in the Strait of Hormuz. The nation has also declared that it will take reciprocal action against any vessel that transfers cargo with these blacklisted ships. This development intensifies Iran’s threats concerning this critical waterway, occurring approximately six months after the commencement of regional conflict.
A post published late Sunday on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by the body managing the Persian Gulf waterway indicated that the targeted vessels could face fines, detention, and confiscation of their cargo.
This warning comes just days after the United States, in a continuation of its hostile actions against Iran, threatened Tehran with the ‘harshest sanctions in history.’ Iran, in response, stated that its reaction to any new American threat would be ‘devastating.’
The list of restricted vessels includes Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs), liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tankers, as well as vessels carrying refined petroleum products and other types of craft.
Ownership of some of these vessels is held by the UAE’s ADNOC Logistics & Services (ADNOC L&S), Navig8 Tankers, a subsidiary of ADNOC, and Saudi Arabia’s National Shipping Company (Bahri).
The message further stated that any vessel participating in ship-to-ship cargo transfer operations with these blacklisted vessels may also be added to the blacklist.
