Trump Claims South Korea Refused to Join U.S. Against Iran

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that South Korea refused to join the United States in efforts against Iran. Trump made the assertion on his personal Truth Social account on Tuesday, stating that he was not pleased with the United States’ prior agreement to participate in joint military exercises with South Korea, given his relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

The U.S. President argued that these exercises are not only costly, with the majority of expenses typically borne by the U.S., but also send an inappropriate and hostile message to a country that has acted non-threateningly and respectfully throughout his presidency. He further stated that, as it was too late to cancel the exercises, he had instructed the Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, to significantly reduce the scale of these joint military drills.

Trump revealed his motivation for a seemingly conciliatory approach toward North Korea, noting that he had recently asked the President of South Korea if they would be willing to cooperate with the U.S. on the nuclear disarmament of the Islamic Republic of Iran. According to Trump, the response was, “No, thank you.”
