Iranian Animated Film ‘Legend of Sepahar’ Premieres in Russia with Tribute to Minab Student Martyrs
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, The premiere screening of the Iranian animated feature film ‘Legend of Sepahar’ commenced in Russia on Monday evening with a special ceremony in Moscow. The event was dedicated to commemorating the 168 student martyrs from Shajarah Tayyibah school in Minab. Concurrently with this ceremony, the film was released in 89 cinemas across Russia.
The event, held at the cinema hall of the “Lubyanka” shopping and entertainment complex in central Moscow, was attended by Kazem Jalali, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Moscow, several prominent figures from the Russian film industry, and art enthusiasts.
The ceremony began with the display of images of the 168 martyred students from Minab on the cinema screen, and the attendees paid tribute to their memory in a deeply moving and empathetic atmosphere.
Kazem Jalali, Iran’s Ambassador in Moscow, commented on the display of the martyrs’ images, stating, “168 Iranian children were martyred on the first day of the military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran. This horrific crime must not be erased from humanity’s historical memory.”
He also announced the upcoming “Days of Iranian Culture in Russia” cultural events, scheduled for this October in three cities: Saint Petersburg, Moscow, and Kazan. Jalali noted that 168 Iranian artists will participate in these events in remembrance of the fallen students. He also mentioned that 168 days have passed since the martyrdom of these students.
Konstantin Yulkin, producer and director of the Russian film distribution company “Russian World Vision” (RWV), expressed his pleasure in participating in the screening of ‘Legend of Sepahar,’ describing the animation as a commendable and educational work for children. He conveyed his deep condolences to the bereaved families of Minab, stating, “We deeply empathize with all those who have lost loved ones in this tragic event and hope that such a sorrowful incident will not be repeated anywhere in the world.”
Vyacheslav Sangayovsky, CEO of the Russian company “Kianoush Impex,” shared his enthusiasm for Iranian culture and the film’s screening in Russia. “When the creators of this cartoon contacted us, we gladly welcomed its exhibition in Russia. We have begun dubbing, advertising, and online screening of the film, and after its release in 89 cinemas, we plan to expand its showing to other Russian cities.” He emphasized the importance of cultural exchange between Iran and Russia, adding, “The exchange of artists between the two countries can build strong bridges of friendship. Cultural cooperation between Tehran and Moscow is more important than ever under the current circumstances.”
‘Legend of Sepahar’ is being screened in Russia in coordination with the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Moscow. The animated film, categorized as adventure, fantasy, and family, tells the story of a teenager named Sepahar and his loyal companion Babo, who face various challenges on an epic journey to save their family and homeland. The film focuses on themes such as family, responsibility, courage, and resistance against oppression and darkness.
The Russian version of the animation, titled “Легенда о Сепере,” has been registered in Russian cinema databases, and its trailer is available on the “Kinopoisk” platform. The film is produced by Mehdi Jafari Jozani, and directed by Emad Rahmani and Mehrdad Mehrabi.
The screening of ‘Legend of Sepahar’ in Russia follows the positive reception of the Iranian animation ‘The Dolphin Boy’ in the market, marking another step towards expanding the presence of Iranian children’s and adolescent cinema on the international stage, and it holds the potential to further introduce the capabilities of Iranian animation to foreign audiences.
