Lavrov Warns of ‘Different and Short’ War if Europe Attacks Russia
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on Wednesday at the World Youth Festival in Yekaterinburg that Russia has repeatedly announced it has no intention of attacking Western countries, and such an action would hold no benefit for Moscow.
Lavrov said, “However, if Europe, which constantly speaks of readiness for war with Russia, attacks the Russian Federation, this war will be completely different and very short.”
He added that confrontation is not Russia’s method and this stance has been repeatedly declared by Russian officials, including President Vladimir Putin.
The Russian Foreign Minister also stated that the West has long chosen the path of containing Russia, citing NATO’s expansion toward Russia’s borders as an example of this approach.
Lavrov also criticized statements by European leaders regarding the necessity of preparing for war with Russia, saying this has become one of the main themes of remarks by some European political leaders in Brussels.
