The U.S. Embassy in Riyadh issued a statement on Wednesday advising American citizens to reevaluate travel plans to Saudi Arabia, citing the danger of missile and drone attacks. The advisory highlights concerns about potential threats to U.S. interests, armed conflict, terrorism, and exit restrictions as reasons for the elevated travel warning.

The Level 3 travel advisory specifically recommends that U.S. citizens avoid areas along Saudi Arabia’s border with Yemen. U.S. government personnel are prohibited from traveling within 32 kilometers of the Yemeni border, and non-essential travel to Qatif is also forbidden. Travel to the Jizan, Asir, Najran, and Qatif provinces requires special permission.

U.S. Embassy officials noted that the threat of Iranian missile and drone attacks has persisted since the onset of engagement between the United States and Iran on February 28. This advisory comes in the wake of reciprocal missile and drone strikes experienced by Saudi Arabia in recent days, reportedly carried out by Yemeni combatants.
