Iraqi Political Leader Al-Maliki Discusses Security, Sovereignty with US Chargé d’Affaires in Baghdad
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Nouri al-Maliki, the head of the State of Law Coalition in Iraq, held discussions with Steven Fagin, the US Chargé d’Affaires in Baghdad, concerning political and security developments. The meeting, reported by Al-Manar and disseminated by Mehr News Agency, focused on critical national issues.
Al-Maliki articulated that the issue of exclusive arms control by the Iraqi government must be resolved through dialogue, understanding, and in accordance with constitutional and legal frameworks. He reiterated Iraq’s firm opposition to the use of its territory as a base for launching attacks against any country.
The leader of the State of Law Coalition stressed the importance of awaiting the outcomes of official investigations into relevant matters. During their meeting, both parties reviewed bilateral relations and underscored the significance of following up on and implementing the results of Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Ziadi’s recent visit to Washington.
Conversely, the US Chargé d’Affaires in Baghdad highlighted the importance of bilateral relations and conveyed Washington’s readiness to continue cooperation with Iraq, aiming to deepen economic and investment partnerships.
