Lavrov: US Must Engage with Russia on Multilateralism

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized in an interview with Sputnik that the United States will eventually be forced to think about the logic of multilateralism in international relations.

Responding to a question regarding the establishment of a new security system in Eurasia and the Middle East, Lavrov stated that Moscow has repeatedly put forward its proposals on how to build relationships on the international stage.

Lavrov added that Russia supports honest and equal dialogue that considers the mutual interests of all parties. He commented that current U.S. policy appears to be an effort to promote unilateral interests, asserting that the reality is the United States must engage with countries at Russia’s level.

He noted that while direct contacts with the U.S. have not yet been established, a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been agreed upon.
