South Africa Summons US Ambassador Over Diplomatic Conduct

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, South Africa‘s Department of International Relations and Cooperation summoned the U.S. ambassador to Pretoria for the third time in the past nine months due to non-diplomatic behavior. A senior South African official confirmed that a formal protest was conveyed to Ambassador Leo Brent Bozell III, but did not disclose specific details about the alleged conduct. The U.S. Embassy has yet to comment on the matter.

Relations between Washington and Pretoria have been strained in recent years, partly due to political disagreements and remarks made by Donald Trump concerning the situation of white South Africans. Ambassador Bozell had previously been summoned over statements that the South African government deemed interventionist and undermining of the country’s judicial system.

Despite ongoing differences, South Africa has emphasized its commitment to continued dialogue with the United States, stating that the resolution of bilateral issues must respect the nation’s sovereignty and not compromise its domestic priorities.
