France Faces Widespread Student Protests Amidst Educational Shortages; 76 Injured

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, student protests and gatherings are continuing in France, demanding more educational resources, less crowded classrooms, and more teachers. These demonstrations, which began last week, have escalated in cities including Lyon, Lille, and Saint-Denis, leading to the obstruction of school entrances and, in some instances, the burning of trash bins and the throwing of objects.

French Minister of Education, Édouard Geoffroy, reported that 76 students and school staff have sustained injuries since the protests commenced. Minister of the Interior, Laurent Nuñez, announced that approximately 440 individuals, predominantly teenagers, were detained during Tuesday’s demonstrations.

The ongoing protests coincide with mounting political pressures on the French government and precede the presentation of the nation’s 2027 budget.
