Flydubai Extends Suspension of Flights to Tel Aviv Until End of October

Flydubai has extended its suspension of flights to and from Tel Aviv until the end of October, following an alleged attempt by a co-pilot to carry out a suicide attack.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Flydubai has extended its suspension of flights to and from Tel Aviv until the end of October. This decision comes in the wake of a recent incident involving an Omani co-pilot on a Flydubai flight.

Reports from the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, citing Quds News Network, indicate that the airline’s decision to prolong the flight cancellations is linked to an alleged recent attempt to hijack an Israeli aircraft. The suspension now covers all flights originating from or destined for Tel Aviv through October.

The extension of Flydubai’s flight suspension to Tel Aviv occurs as the Public Prosecution of the United Arab Emirates recently issued an official statement detailing the co-pilot’s alleged intentions. According to the statement, the Omani co-pilot intended to carry out a suicide operation by crashing the plane into the passenger hall of Ben Gurion Airport, aiming to injure the maximum number of people. The prosecution described this action as similar to the September 11th attacks.

The UAE prosecution’s statement further elaborated that the suspect had met all the professional and security requirements of Flydubai at the time of his hiring. Initial investigations conducted on him had not revealed any signs of extremist tendencies or intentions to carry out terrorist acts.
