Ireland Opposes EU Proposal to Limit Russian Tourist Visas

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Ireland has opposed a proposal by Germany to limit the territorial validity of tourist visas issued to Russian citizens. This stance was reported by the publication “Rapporter”, citing a document presented to the Council of the European Union, as published by the Mehr News Agency.
The German proposal suggested that tourist visas for Russian citizens should only be valid within the territory of the country that issued them. If implemented, this measure would restrict the ability of visa holders to travel to other Schengen Area countries.
The issue has been placed on the agenda of the European Union’s Visa Working Party. According to published documents from the Council of the European Union, the proposal in question pertains to the issuance of visas with limited territorial validity for Russian citizens undertaking non-essential travel, including tourism.
