According to the report of the international group Tasnim news agency quoting “Focus” magazine, Boris Pistorius, the German Minister of Defense, in a conversation with the Tagus Spiegel newspaper, expressed his serious concerns about the possible escalation of the war in Ukraine and emphasized the need for Germany and NATO to prepare for a possible Russian attack.
The German official emphasized that the Kremlin’s repeated threats, especially against NATO partners in the Baltics, should not be taken lightly. Pistorius believes that it is necessary for Germany to investigate the possibility of a Russian attack on one of the NATO countries, even if it currently considers such an event unlikely. According to him, experts predict that such a scenario may occur in the next five to eight years. This points out that the German army should be in a state of readiness for war. He believes that proper precautions are necessary now. In this context, the German Minister of Defense also proposed a revised form of compulsory military service, which he expects to present specific proposals from his ministry in this regard by April.
Recently, Western officials are warning about the possibility of Russia attacking NATO.
Admiral Rob Bauer, the head of NATO’s military committee, recently talked about an all-out and extensive war with Russia. In the next 20 years, he warned and asked civilians to prepare for major changes in their daily lives. The occurrence and seriousness of the situation asked the citizens to prepare themselves for these conditions and to strengthen the national defense.
According to the Telegraph, NATO will hold the largest military exercise since the Cold War this week. The future will start with about 90,000 soldiers. Operation Steadfast Defender 2024 was designed expressly to prepare the alliance for a Russian invasion. Britain is sending around 20,000 troops as well as tanks, artillery and fighter jets to the exercises, which will take place across Europe until May.
A confidential ministry document German defense has also recently published a scenario that shows how Russia could start a war with NATO as early as this year.
This information is classified. Available in Germany’s Bild magazine, it describes in detail a scenario about the outbreak of war that seems unimaginable to many Germans even now.
